Massage professionals are encouraged to join as many massage associations as they wish to support and wish to gain the benefits of being a member of. It is very important that every massage therapist join a massage association that offers massage professional liability insurance and purchases insurance for their protection and the protection of their massage clients. It is also the responsibility of every massage client to insist on seeing their massage therapists current massage professional liability insurance certificate. This insurance is also typically required by state law. Massage clients are advised to beware of massage professionals that do not belong to a major massage association as the massage associations generally accept all massage professionals unless one is known to be felonious or unscrupulous.
